A.J. Mason

A.J. Mason is a global family office based in Hong Kong that invests and develops real estate worldwide with a focus on building legacy projects based on our core principles of respecting local heritage and traditions. These values inspire the building designs and community experiences we develop with our ambition to create delightful places. Our origins date back to the construction business in the early 1940s in Shanghai when Mr. A.J. Sze co-founded Paul Y Construction Company with another family.

It was in the 1950s when both families decided to move the construction operations to Hong Kong and as the industry grew in the 1960s and 70s, the company became bigger and was involved in large construction projects which included the Hong Kong Club, the Hong Kong Cross-Harbour Tunnel, the MTR and the Hong Kong Park Lane Hotel. In 1970, Paul Y Construction became a publicly-traded company in Hong Kong.

In 1978, A.J. Mason Development Ltd. was officially established by Mr A.J. Sze with his son, Mr Mason Sze, and together, they aimed to become a legacy builder by taking a long-term approach to protecting capital and creating value that will last for years not only for ourselves but for all of the stakeholders, partners and communities we serve.

In 2021, A.J. Mason rebranded its structure under three new names, A.J. Mason, Angus Mason, and Alexander Mason for its investments and projects in the Asia Pacific region, Canada, and the United States of America.

Over the years, A.J. Mason has grown as a family business and the baton has passed down from one generation to another. It all started with our founder Mr. A.J. Sze, who planted the seeds of growth for the family business from his humble beginnings in the construction business. The second generation of the business was led by Mr. Mason Sze, who established the vision to expand the family business back into China and overseas. Currently, the business is operating under its third generation of leadership and is led by Mr. Jason Sze. He continues to focus on the global expansion of the business into Asia Pacific and North America and has established clear family office identities in the different regions it now operates in.
